Land is the basis of human society because it provides food, water, energy, clothing and shelter. Land resources, however are finite and becoming scarce. Many people have inadequate access to land or to the benefits from its use. The major challenge facing humankind is to meet these increasing basic human needs while sustaining the resources (water, soil, fauna and flora) upon which these needs depend.
LEAT though the Land Tenure Support program, a program implemented by the Ministry of Land, Housing and Human Settlements Development and the Tanzania Land Alliance umbrella, aims at formalizing land rights and clarifying village borders and plans.
