2.8 CONCLUSIONEnvironmental protection has become a major issue in Tanzania and around the world and the law is increasingly playing a central role in this regard. There are many principal laws, as well as regulations and standards which supplement the common law in regulating the activities that have an impact on the environment. New policies, laws and approaches are being adopted at a global and national level in order to strengthen the environmental protection regime. It is important that everyone, especially those persons whose activities may have impacts on the environment, to acquaint themselves not only with existing laws and regulations but also of the emerging policies and trends in environmental protection so that when these are also translated into law, they are not caught unawares, with the need to restructure their business practices. Some of the existing laws and policies are discussed in detail in the following Chapters. |
